Indoor Olympics: Au revoir Paris, hello Los Angeles

AUTHOR: M.J.
The Olympic Games in Paris have closed - the ceremony at the "France" stadium put an end to the best sportsmen's show, which will be remembered for the not-so-ideal organization, controversies, but also for top results, records...
The curtain was lowered in a completely different way than the opening, especially since on July 26 everything was held on the Seine River.
The lantern containing the Olympic flame was taken to the "France" stadium by the winner of four gold medals in Paris, the French swimmer Leon Marchan, and more than 100 performers, acrobats, dancers and circus artists joined the singers in various musical performances.
Part of the show took place in the air, with spectacular lighting effects.
The star of the evening was the actor Tom Cruise, who descended from the roof of the stadium and, as in "Mission Impossible", took the Olympic flag and "took" it to Hollywood, after it had previously been handed over to Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles who will organize the 2028 Games. .
The Americans prepared spectacular footage from the City of Angels, with performances by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Snoop Dogg...
The most successful nation in Paris was the United States of America. The Games ended with as many as 126 medals, of which 40 gold, 44 silver and 42 bronze medals.
The general order was decided in a "photo-finish" with the triumph of the American basketball players in the final against France (67:66).
China hoped for the triumph of the French, because with 40 gold medals, they would finish first, since the brightest medals count the most, but in the end, the USA and China won the same number of golds, so they decided on silver and bronze.
American sportsmen and women are much more successful there – China won 27 silver and 24 bronze medals.
In third place is Japan with 45 medals, including 20 gold, followed by Australia with 18 gold, and a total of 53 medals.
Montenegro participated in the Olympics with 19 athletes and did not win a medal. At the closing, out of 204 delegations, they found themselves in a group of 19 countries that did not have a representative or a flag bearer.
Among them are Bangladesh, Cayman Islands, El Salvador, UAE, Equatorial Guinea, Kuwait, Libya, Liechtenstein, Malawi, Mauritania, Micronesia, Oman, Qatar, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Somalia, Syria and Vietnam.
Europe will wait for the next host, given that the 2032 Olympics will be held in Brisbane.
