Satler: I will give 150 percent of myself for Montenegro to become a member of the EU as soon as possible

The newly appointed ambassador of the European Union in Montenegro, Johan Satler, addressed the citizens of Montenegro in a video message with the desire to introduce himself to the Montenegrin public.
He said that he knows the Balkans as well as Montenegro very well.
"I see the huge desire of the citizens of Montenegro to become part of the EU. I will give 150 percent of myself to realize the dream of the citizens of Montenegro that this country becomes a member of the EU as soon as possible."
Ambassador Satler is the ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro from September 1, 2024. Previously, he worked as the head of the EU Delegation and the special representative of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He graduated from the University of Innsbruck in 1994, where he earned a master's degree in political science and Slavic studies, and also holds postgraduate qualifications from advanced international studies at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna. He received his doctorate in political science from the University of Vienna in 2008. During his career, including his recent experience as the Austrian Ambassador to Albania and the EU Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Satler has particularly focused on the Western Balkans.
He joined the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, i.e. its Department for Human Rights, in 1996. In 1997, he joined the Monitoring Mission of the European Community, within which he was engaged in Sarajevo and Tirana. He worked for the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe in Brussels and as a political advisor at the Austrian Embassy in Washington. He also served as head of the Directorate for Eastern/Southeastern Europe at the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He assumed his ambassadorial duties in Albania in 2016. In addition to his native German, Ambassador Satler is fluent in English, French and Russian, and also speaks Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian and Albanian.
