Hundreds dead in Myanmar after typhoon

AUTHOR: M.J.
The death toll in Myanmar after Typhoon Yagi has risen to more than 220, while nearly 80 others are still missing, the military government said.
The typhoon hit northern Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar in early September and has so far killed more than 500 people across the region, according to official figures.
631,000 people affected by floods
Yagi caused severe flooding and mudslides in Myanmar, leaving at least 226 dead and entire villages destroyed. The UN also warned that more than half a million people in the war-torn country urgently need food and drinking water, shelter and clothing.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said about 631,000 people were affected by the floods in Myanmar.
