Đukanović: Extraordinary parliamentary elections on June 11

The President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, announced early parliamentary elections for June 11 this year.
"Applying Article 92, paragraph 5, I made the decision to call elections for June 11," Đukanović said at a press conference.
He said that he steadfastly adhered to the Constitution.
"The leaders who claimed to have the required majority did not respond to the call for consultations. That is why today, as then, I am convinced that the best solution is to shorten the mandate and call for extraordinary parliamentary elections," Đukanović said.
He added that, as president, he also requested an opinion from the Venice Commission.
"It is known that Miodrag Lekić's attempt to form a government ended, which confirmed that there was no majority, and there is none today," said the president.
"It would be more rational to postpone the list"
When asked by journalists about the list, Đukanović said that it is possible for him to do it this year, but that it would be more rational "to release the list this year because of the elections".
"By scheduling elections, we will create the conditions for Montenegro to get a government by the end of June, so if a consensus is reached in the parliament, to implement the census, we could do that too. I would postpone it at least until the spring of next year," he said.
Decree on the dissolution of the Assembly
Yesterday, Đukanović passed the Decree on the dissolution of the Parliament of Montenegro, based on Article 92, Item 3 of the Constitution of Montenegro.
As he pointed out earlier, part of the legal team advised him that he has the legal conditions to dissolve the parliament and call elections, if a new government is not elected within the stipulated period.
After the dissolution of the Assembly, elections can be held in 60 days at the earliest, and in 100 days at the latest, which means that early parliamentary elections could be held at the end of May or the beginning of June.
We would like to remind you that the deadline for the formation of the 44th government was cut off last night for Mandator Miodrag Lekić. On Sunday, he informed the leaders of the parliamentary majority that he does not have the necessary majority to form a new government, because he lacks three votes from the members of the URA Citizens' Movement.
