Đukanović: I am convinced that we will get a stable pro-European government through the elections

The President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, met in Geneva with the President of the Council for Human Rights, Vaclav Balek, and said that he is convinced that, despite the challenges, Montenegro will emerge from the crisis in a good way and, through democratic election procedures, will get a stable and pro-European government that will continue to lead society. in the direction of reaching European values.
Đukanović congratulated Ambassador Balek on the prestigious position of President of the Council for Human Rights, with the satisfaction that the position is filled by a representative of the Czech Republic, both because of the friendship between our countries and because of its continuous advocacy for the preservation and promotion of human rights.
By participating in the Council, Montenegro shows its commitment to human rights issues, respect for standards and finding solutions for their violations, which are, unfortunately, frequent. Along with the commitment to constantly strengthen the Council's position, Montenegro also sees membership in that organization as an opportunity for quality presentation of the country on the international level and in the multilateral framework - said Đukanović.
He pointed to the demanding role of Montenegro as a member of NATO and a leader in negotiations with the EU in the context of aggression against Ukraine, which has repercussions for the country and the region as a whole.
The President of the Council for Human Rights thanked President Đukanović for the visit, with the assessment that the support of such prominent personalities is very important for the Council, which strengthens his position. He reminded that the Council is the mechanism that works best and is able to lead to visible results, as in the case of a quick reaction to the aggression against Ukraine - said Đukanović's cabinet.
In this context, he emphasized the importance of this body as an important mechanism for countries like Montenegro and the Czech Republic, which is based on human rights and helps citizens. He particularly emphasized the significance of the Council's progress in the jubilee year, 75 years of the Universal Declaration and 30 years of the Vienna Declaration in order to increase efficiency, for which the support of political leaders will be valuable, said Balek.
The President, with a satisfyingly high degree of congruence in seeing global opportunities, said that Montenegro would be happy to respond to the call to help all initiatives of the Human Rights Council in the important jubilee year marked by the UN.
