Đukanović on the dissolution of the Assembly: I would not run with it, I will look at the compatibility of constitutional and legal solutions

The President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, said that he would not run away with taking advantage of the legal possibility to dissolve the Parliament of Montenegro.
There are various controversies surrounding the Law on the President. It is true that the Constitution foresees the possibility that the president can dissolve the parliament if the mandate holder does not form a government within 90 days. It is necessary to look precisely at what are the constitutional provisions, and what are the controversial Law on the President, which, I am convinced, will be before the Constitutional Court. I am sure that those who raised their hand in favor of that law know that it is unconstitutional, now it is only a question of when the Constitutional Court will be constituted and when this issue will be on the agenda - said Đukanović at the press conference.
He leaves himself, as he says, a little more time to look at the compatibility of constitutional and legal solutions and to see, within the framework of his defined position on this issue, what are the possibilities for making a move that would lead to the unblocking of the executive power in Montenegro.
It is unusual and with problematic legitimacy that we have a Government whose technical mandate lasts longer than its political mandate. This testifies to the irregularity, which further gives rise to the dysfunctionality and illegitimacy of other state institutions. That is why it is in the interest of the state to hold elections as soon as possible. But it is my obligation to respect the Constitution uncompromisingly - said Đukanović.
