Đukanović: We must end the agony in these elections and say - enough is enough

The victory forum of the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), current president of Montenegro and candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, Milo Đukanović, was held in the full hall of the Culture Center in Berane, who addressed the audience and said at the very beginning of his speech that in this At this moment, we are facing perhaps the biggest challenge in the recent political history of our country.
A very fruitful period of economic and democratic development is behind us. After the restoration of independence, the state policy, which was dominantly created and implemented by the Democratic Party of Socialists together with coalition partners, managed to move the country forward and create opportunities and results that ensured an incomparably better quality of life for all our citizens - said Đukanović.
He said that it was a policy that preserved peace and strengthened inter-religious and multi-ethnic harmony in the 1990s, that ensured economic independence of Montenegro and created a chance for dynamic economic development, which is why our country was the most dynamic economy in Southeast Europe.
A vision that comes true
Đukanović said that the previous period of DPS rule showed that the independence of Montenegro was necessary in order to take responsibility for the future of our country, and correctly chose the strategic course.
Montenegro belongs to Europe, not only historically and geographically, and not only culturally, but also in value, and Montenegro should be an integral part of the developed European family. We have shown that we have not only a vision, but a vision that comes true. That is very important. We have shown that we have the courage and determination and knowledge to overcome all obstacles on the way to realizing our vision. Meanwhile, we became a member of NATO, the most prestigious political and military alliance in the history of mankind. Montenegro earned it with its work and, among other things, the wise and responsible household led by the DPS with its European coalition. In the finale of the retrospective on how we managed Montenegro responsibly, I remind you that we brought Montenegro into the lobby of the EU. Why we are still not a member, I won't elaborate. Nevertheless, I have no doubt that the first next member of the EU will be Montenegro - said President Đukanović in the part of the presentation that referred to the effects of the policy that was dominantly led by the DPS.
They paid for the mistakes on August 30
In the continuation of his speech, the president of the DPS said that he had not the slightest illusion that everything was so bright and shiny, because as he pointed out, the government corrupts people, and the representatives of the DPS are no exception, and that on August 30, 2020, the moment had come. for payment of those errors.
I am a man who fully understands the European political and democratic culture, and part of that culture is the change of government. Today, two and a half years later, today we come to the confirmation of what every wise and experienced person knows - not every change is a change for the better. None of us wants a change for the worse. If we want change, we want it to be at least of the same quality as the policy we are changing - said the current President of Montenegro.
The last two and a half years - it happened and it didn't happen again
Đukanović pointed out part of what happened in the previous period.
What happened in these two and a half years? Every elementary thinking person can say only one sentence: it happened and it didn't happen again! Montenegro was a country with very exemplary functionality. Today, we have a Government that has been in a technical mandate longer than it was in a full political one. The consequence of such political illegitimacy of the government is the fact that it generates the inability of the parliamentary majority to solve open problems in the overall system of government. Today, you have a multi-year acting in the judiciary. decisions from the President of the Supreme Court, VDT, Judicial and Prosecutorial Council. These are the tragic effects of the parliamentary majority. On the economic front, serious damage occurred. It is not easy to animate good investors to come to a small country, and most of them have now left us. Hundreds and thousands of jobs were lost. Public finances are threatened to such an extent due to the amount of debt in relation to the gross social product that it affected the downgrading of the credit rating and every loan is now incomparably more expensive. Look at what happened to the health insurance system, that is, what the economic and political vagabonds did. They offered a colorful lie that they will raise salaries, so when people get sick they go to health facilities, but they have to bring everything themselves. There are no medicines for people who are sick with malignant diseases - said Đukanović.
The previous two governments forgot pensioners and beneficiaries of social benefits
He pointed out that pensioners were forgotten by the policy of the previous two governments, as well as those categories that are beneficiaries of social rights.
He claims that the current government is keeping silent about the level of inflation in Montenegro.
Inflation in the EU was 10 percent, and in Montenegro 18 percent. The real salary of a citizen of Montenegro this January is 5.1 percent lower than in January last year. Today, for the same salary, you can buy 5% less products than in January last year. So how to summarize these effects? I would say that this is a serious agony in which the Montenegrin state and Montenegrin society find themselves, and it needs to be stopped urgently - Đukanović assessed.
Presidential elections in the first half, parliamentary elections in the second
He stated that the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for March 19 have exceptional significance.
The presidential election is the first half of what is to come. After them, there will be early parliamentary elections, after which we will get a responsible host - that is, a responsible government - concluded Đukanović.
