Šehović: Presidential elections are not a matter of parties and individuals, but of Montenegro

On April 2nd, with the victory of our presidential candidate in the second round of elections, a victory in which we truly believe, Montenegro will return to itself, to what it was and what it should be - a civil, secular and anti-fascist society," said the president of the Social Democrats of Montenegro. , Damir Šehović, at the session of OO Social Democrats Herceg Novi.
Šehović expressed satisfaction with the election result in the first round, stressing that it was even beyond expectations.
This shows that, despite the known mechanisms that were harnessed for the remaining candidates, including those inside and outside this country, citizens are becoming aware of how negative and negative the changes from August 30, 2020 in Montenegro how important it is that the politics of progress, civil, European and Euro-Atlantic Montenegro must once again be the politics of our country. That is why I believe that in the second round, with the expected even greater support of less numerous nations, but also of all others who are aware that this is not a question of parties or individuals, but a question of Montenegro, we will achieve victory and turn the wheel of history in Montenegro again - he said. is Šehović.
He said that, soon after the presidential elections, the parliamentary elections will follow, for which the party has already started to prepare.
Another goal we set has been achieved. We clearly said - the election of judges of the Constitutional Court and the date of extraordinary parliamentary elections. That's what happened. We have elected three of the four judges of the Constitutional Court and we have received the date of the extraordinary parliamentary elections. I am sure that the citizens will recognize our consistent policy, the fact that we have not threatened state interests with any of our acts, the fact that we were the strongest opposition to both the Krivokapić and Abazović governments, and the fact that in the Parliament, proposing numerous legal solutions, we fought for their a better life and that, based on all that, they will give us support for achieving an excellent election result - said Šehović.
The vice-president of the Social Democrats of Montenegro, Boris Mugoša, pointed out that Montenegro has been going through socio-political agony for the past two and a half years.
First and foremost through the huge increase in the cost of living, where those who are most affected, namely pensioners and beneficiaries of social benefits, are left without adequate support. Through the institutional crisis in which the Government has been in a changed mandate for 8 months and the parliamentary majority has no legitimacy because not even a third of the citizens support it. Through numerous challenges in the system of healthcare, education, culture, etc. - said Mugoša.
The president of OO Social Democrats Herceg Novi, Rajko Komnenić, said that today it is not easy to be neither a Social Democrat nor a Montenegrin in Herceg Novi.
We are trying to make ourselves second-class citizens in this city. And it's true, it's not easy, but precisely because it's not easy and because we suffer pressure, our stubbornness is only greater and that gives us additional motivation to fight and not to give up. Because we will never allow Boka to be "Serbian", or anyone else's, because Boka is from Kotor, Montenegrin and all those who live there. Boka is a place that cherishes diversity and welcomes everyone with open arms. The Social Democrats have always been on the sidelines of such a Boka and such a Montenegro. And in the coming period, we will continue to stand in these same positions and make a significant contribution to the defense of those values on which Montenegro must be based - concluded Komnenić.
