Šehović suggested making a final decision on boycotting the census

Bearing in mind that the competent state authorities have not shown even the slightest desire to listen to and consider the justified arguments of the opposition, civil society, and almost all national councils, which for some time have persistently, responsibly, dedicatedly and benevolently indicated the need to postpone the census due to the impossibility its legal organization in the period from November 1 to 15, which would guarantee the free expression of citizens, but also the objective and truthful processing of collected data, the conditions have been met for making a final decision on boycotting the census, because we don't have time to wait anymore - he assessed President of the Social Democrats of Montenegro, Damir Šehović.
The absence of any desire to reach a consensus on this topic and establish adequate monitoring, which was always the practice in the earlier period, clearly indicates an undisguised intention to falsify and misuse sensitive data from the census in order to realize ethnic engineering. It is clear that the final intention is to create assumptions for changing the Constitution, with the aim of collapsing the civil character of the state and implementing a kind of ethno-federalization, after which there would be first- and second-order peoples in Montenegro - said Šehović.
Therefore, all who inherit the fundamental constitutional values on which this country rests, are obliged, according to Šehović, to strongly oppose such a harmful plan, that is, to devalue the results which, due to the refusal to establish any form of control, are known in advance to be fabricated .
That's why today I officially proposed to the Presidency and the Main Board of SD to make a final decision on boycotting the census, believing that it will be formally accepted at the sessions scheduled for Wednesday. Boycott, unfortunately, is the only remaining effective way to make sense of the frivolous results and the dangerous political agenda that follows - emphasized Šehović.
Civic Montenegro, and the values it carries with it, have no alternative, says the SD leader.
Denying legitimacy to the list, which is planned to be carried out at any cost without any control and supervision, is an important part of that struggle. But also the obligation of those who painstakingly created such a Montenegro in previous decades - concludes Šehović.
