Živković: The government threatened Montenegro's European path

AUTHOR: M.J.
The current government has threatened Montenegro's path to the European Union (EU) and called into question the future European perspective of the country, said representatives of the opposition after a meeting with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović.
The leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Danijel Živković, told reporters in front of Villa Gorica that certain details were heard at the meeting that confirm the view that the parliamentary majority's behavior called into question the further European perspective of Montenegro.
He said that the failure of the parliamentary majority to attend the meeting speaks of the attitude towards European integration and that the European perspective is questionable.
"The parliamentary majority is most responsible for stopping the European perspective," Živković said.
The president of the Social Democrats, Damir Šehović, said that Montenegro has a serious problem and that, thanks to the current government, the process of European integration is questionable.
"After receiving the Report on the fulfillment of the temporary standards for the rule of law chapters (IBAR), we went the opposite way," said Šehović.
As he said, the foundations of Montenegro and its close neighbors have been disrupted because of other people's interests.
The leader of the Croatian Civic Initiative, Adrijan Vuksanović, said that Montenegro's European path is significantly, if not threatened, then slowed down.
"We who are committed to European integration must homogenize," said Vuksanovic.
Force leader Genci Nimanbegu believes that Milatović made the right move by organizing the meeting.
"I think that dialogue is the only right way to get out of the situation in which the European path is endangered," Nimanbegu said.
