About 35 million euros will be needed for Luka Bar

AUTHOR: M.J.
At today's session, the Government of Montenegro adopted the information on the damage caused by the weather in the Port of Bar. According to the currently available preliminary information, the Port of Bar states that the estimated cost of acquiring the said funds is around 35 million euros.
- It is evident that the Port of Bar cannot overcome the situation with its own resources, so the help of the Government of Montenegro is necessary, both through appropriate forms of financing urgent purchases, and through enabling the simplification of administrative procedures so that everything that is necessary can be done in the shortest possible time deadlines - it is stated in the announcement of the Government.
On this occasion, the Government tasked the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs to, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Port of Bar, urgently review all possible modalities that can provide financial support for the urgent rehabilitation of the destroyed port superstructure.
In the Information, it is stated that on July 2, a natural disaster, caused by hurricane-force winds, caused significant damage to the port superstructure owned by "Luka Bar" AD. As stated in the Port Bar Report, during the natural disaster:
- three transshipment bridges, Ceretti e Tanfani, each with a load capacity of 12 t, were demolished (their structures are completely degraded and now have no use-value for the transshipment process),
- the grain loading tower, with a capacity of 300 t/h, was demolished (also, its structure is completely degraded and now has no use value for the transshipment process)
- the hoppers for dry bulk cargoes are damaged (high degree of damage), the means are used for transshipment of dry bulk cargoes on the ship -- railcar/truck (and vice versa).
- the conveyor belt for cereals was damaged (high degree of damage) - which is used for the transport of cereals between ship and silo (and vice versa),
- the material handler was damaged (medium level of damage) - which is used for transshipment operations on the open wagon - warehouse (and vice versa).
When taking into account the damage caused, it is emphasized that the direct negative consequences in terms of the ability to respond to already contracted obligations towards the users of the services of the port of Bar are reflected in:
- impossibility of unloading bauxite from wagons, using optimal transshipment technologies (with optimal productivity, which enables optimal turnover of wagons, adequate completion of quantities for shipment by ships, ...).
- delay in receiving ships for the shipment of bauxite copper concentrate, scrap iron, aluminum blocks, etc...
- impossibility of shipment by ship of grain stored in a grain silo.
