Absent support from MPs: Maja Jovanović was not elected to the VDT

The Parliament of Montenegro did not elect Maja Jovanović as the Supreme State Prosecutor.
Jovanović did not receive the two-thirds support of deputies, which was required for the election of VDT in the first round. 54 deputies voted, six were in favor and 48 abstained.
It notes that the Assembly did not accept the proposal of the Prosecutor's Council. Since in the first vote the proposed candidate for the VDT was not elected after one month at the earliest, a hearing is opened on all candidates for the supreme state prosecutor who meet the legal requirements - explained the vice-president of the Assembly Zdenka Popović.
In a month at the earliest, the Assembly will be able to decide in the second round of voting on Jovanović and other candidates for VDT who meet the legal requirements, Milorad Marković and Suzana Mugoš. For election in the second round of voting, a three-fifths majority, or 49 votes of deputies, is required.
