After a stronger earthquake followed 30 weaker

Author: M.J.

The volume of 5.3 degrees of the Richter scale hit Montenegro in 4 hours and 6 minutes, the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology. As they state, the epicenter was five kilometers southwest of the town of Niksic, and the focus of the earthquake was located at a depth of 14 kilometers.

Milena Tomanović announced at the Media Conference from the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology that this stronger earthquake could cause certain damage to the epicenter. Happened in the border area of Montenegro and BiH.

She said that in that zone before any earthquake was 5.5 earthquakes.

"We cannot predict whether the earthquake of the same strength can be repeated or stronger. What we can say is that we had 30 subsequent earthquakes from 5.3 to 1.5 degrees Richter's scale, "Tomanović said.

In the area of our region, as he states, the soil arousing occurred.

"We'll see what a trend will be further," Tomanovic said and added that when we live in a screaming active space, we must always be careful.

Citizens were upset

The earthquake felt across the country, but also in the countries of the region. Srdjan Ceković from the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology said earlier for the portal of RTCG that the depth of the earthquake was 14 kilometers below the ground.

He announced that the earthquake could have challenged material damage. He also says that the Institute had a lot of calls for citizens who were upset. He also states that it is good that the epicenter was in an uninhabited area.

"The strongest felt around Bileća with the intensity of six degrees," says Cekovic. He says that another 30 earthquakes followed the main earthquake.

There is no data on possible damage, and according to the information from ZHMS, it could be caused in the epicentral area.

"Based on the numerical model of change in intensity with the distance in this region, the magnitude of the earthquake and the depth of the hypocenter, this earthquake could have provoked certain material harms in the epicentral area," the Institute's announcement.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) has previously announced that the strength of the earthquake is 5.3 degrees of Richter's scale. In this area, two more milder earthquakes of 3.1 degrees were registered.

No classes in schools and kindergartens in Bileća, no harm

The Chief of Civil Protection Bileća Veselin Vujović said for Radio Republika Srpska to felt the earthquake in 4,07 minutes, but also about thirty smaller earthquakes after that.

"Unnatural Huka felt an hour after that first, the strongest earthquake. We are in the early morning of the Earth and it is good to have material damage for now. Still, we will evaluate that primary schools and kindergartens will not work," Vujović said.
