Air pollution in Nikšić and Pljevlja

Today, according to the data of the Environmental Protection Agency, the level of PM particles is very high in Nikšić, while it is high in Pljevlja. In other cities, it is within normal limits. An increased level of PM particles in the air during this period is not unusual, Lidija Đukanović from the Environmental Protection Agency told our Radio. The key cause, he says, is the heating of individual households with fossil fuels.

Milorad Mitrović from the NGO "Breznica" told us that it is not good that the heating of Pljevlja is being delayed, as well as measures that would reduce the use of fossil fuels for heating in other cities.

The Institute for Public Health recommends that citizens do not go outside at the time of the highest air pollution. Dr. Borko Bajić says that physical activity should be kept to a minimum.

Citizens can get real-time information about air quality on the website of the Environmental Protection Agency.
