Another warning was sent to RTCG due to unprofessional and irresponsible information

AUTHOR: M.J.
According to the decision of the Agency for Electronic Media, during the broadcast of the news programs "Dnevnik 2" and "Argumenti", RTCG violated the obligation of professional and responsible information, did not present the events faithfully and did not represent different approaches and opinions, did not respect the principles of objectivity and impartiality, fairness and balanced program content, it is stated, among other things, in the publication of the Spektra Association on the X social network.

As AEM states in the Decision, during the "Arguments" show, the Public Service made it possible to present incomplete and non-objective allegations that, as it was said, the "alleged" law refers to gender change, even though the law regulates the process of exercising the right to gender identity recognition based on changes in gender marking, and not changes with the implementation of a medical gender adjustment procedure (which is an issue regulated by a completely different law).

AEM also points out that by broadcasting the show and the segment of Dnevnik 2, the broadcaster did not ensure the publication of opposing views that would represent a whole in the treatment of the topic, thus enabling the tendentious promotion of the interests of religious communities.

AEM also believes that the allegation from the broadcaster's statement that the next day after the content was broadcast in Dnevnik 2, it broadcast a short piece of information about the adoption of the law, does not absolve RTCG of its responsibility for failing to represent different approaches and opinions in an exemplary manner, in an objective manner, without editorial interventions and comments that would favor the party opposing the adoption of the law.

AEM also points out that, although it published wider information about the process of drafting the law and its key solutions on its portal, in its central news show on the TVCG program, it failed to at least instruct the viewers to read more information about this legislative initiative on its portal.

- The host and the broadcaster also failed to inform, due to the accusations of religious representatives, that the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights submitted the Draft Law for public discussion and issued a public invitation to all interested organizations and communities to get involved and contribute to the consideration of the Draft Law, that three round tables were held, and that the public hearing ends on March 15 - states AEM.

This association points out that during the discussion on the Draft Law, the broadcaster aired quotes from the guests in the lower part of the screen and thus additionally contributed to the discriminatory and biased presentation of the topic of this segment of the show, concludes AEM.

Due to the aforementioned omissions in AEM, they conclude that the Public Service must perform its duty in relation to all media laws, and all content it creates must be anti-discriminatory, secular, and impartial, and represent the integrity and rights of all citizens of Montenegro.
