Begović requested a report on reported cases of police torture

Acting Supreme State Prosecutor Tatjana Begović asked the head of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Podgorica to provide her with a detailed report on reported cases of police torture and the actions taken in those cases by Monday.
On the occasion of the published photos of police torture, Acting Supreme State Prosecutor Tatjana Begović asked the head of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica to provide her with a detailed report on reported cases of police torture and the actions taken in those cases by Monday - the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office (VDT) announced. .
After the analysis of the submitted reports, according to the VDT, a decision will be made on further action.
A few days ago, Portal Libertas published disturbing content about the alleged police torture of those arrested.
Lawyers Damir Lekić and Tatjana Pavličić confirmed for Pobjeda that the photographs show their clients Stefan Kovač and Jovan Mrvaljević as victims of police torture in 2020.
Action for Human Rights requested an urgent response from the Special State Prosecutor's Office yesterday in order to prevent the escape of police officers who, judging by the material of Europol, which was published yesterday on the Libertas portal, tortured the arrested.
Every state prosecutor who has been compromised by the ineffective handling of the reported cases so far must be excluded from the proceedings of the SDT. We emphasize that some of the crimes from the photographs have long been reported to the state prosecutor's office, which has not prosecuted them for unknown reasons - the HRA press release states.
Last year, HRA informed the competent authorities about 20 reports of coercion of statements.
Of those 20 reports, as said in that organization, 11 refer to the extortion of statements from members of the Sector for the fight against organized crime.
