Blinken to Đukanović: You played an essential role in the peaceful transfer of power, which is the seal of democracy

The Secretary of State of the United States of America (USA) Anthony Blinken sent a letter to the former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, with expressions of sincere gratitude for his decades of work on improving the Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro.
Dear President Đukanović, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the decades of your work on improving the Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro - stated in Blinken's letter.
He pointed out that Đukanović, as president and prime minister, led the country to NATO membership and initiated the EU accession process. After the recent presidential elections, Blinken points out, Đukanović played an essential role in the peaceful transfer of power - which, he says, is the hallmark of democracy.
Thank you for your leadership and your work. I look forward to continued engagement and appreciate your unwavering support for the Euro-Atlantic progress of Montenegro, its vibrant, multicultural democracy, and its role as an active ally in NATO dedicated to the completion of the reforms necessary for EU accession - emphasized Blinken.
At the end of the letter, State Secretary Blinken repeated his expressions of respect for the historic leadership of President Đukanović.
