Brđanin, according to the court verdict, police director

The Government of Montenegro agrees that reforms are needed in the security sector, and the priority is the fight against corruption. Personnel reforms must be in accordance with the law, and Zoran Brđanin is the director of the police according to the ruling of the Administrative Court, Danilo Saranović, Minister of Internal Affairs, said in Dnevnik TVCG.
Šaranović said that he would not talk about disagreements in the Government, and constructive exchanges of opinions in the coalition and the Government are a regular thing.
"There is no reason for anyone to spread negative energy, the law clearly defines how these types of reforms are carried out. The priority is personnel reforms, what should happen is defined by the law. Any further appointment must be synonymous with integrity and professional courage." , Saranovic said.
He recalled that some former police leaders were arrested, some of whom were accused of having ties to drug clans.
"As a minister, I am committed to strict compliance with the law on internal affairs. We have incrimination in the security sector every time politics intervenes in that sector, and no political entity will be able to put pressure on the future police director," Saranović said.
He underlined that the ruling of the Administrative Court was passed, which annulled the Government's decision to remove Zoran Brđanin from the post of police director.
"Through communication with legal experts, it was interpreted that the police director is from Brđa. That verdict is different from the original verdict in which the court sent the case back to the government for re-decision. This verdict is such that the police director is from Brđa. How and in what way will to carry out the handover, between Nikola Terzić and Brđanin, is a matter for the Government, as a party to the proceedings," Šaranović said.
He explained that the verdict was delivered to the Government as a party to the proceedings, which should now make a decision.
"The address is the Government, not the MUP," explained Šaranović.
The minister stated that unverified information was published that Vojislav Dragović is a candidate for police director.
"The fundamental principle is that we will respect the law, and that we will have maximum attention in the selection of candidates," Saranović said.
