Combine extraordinary parliamentary and presidential elections

Continuation of negotiations of the parliamentary majority on the formation of a new government for Prime Minister Dritan Abazović is not a realistic option. Abazović also said that from the point of view of rationalization, it would be logical for the extraordinary parliamentary and presidential elections to be held on the same day.

Abazović told reporters in Pljevlje that it would be logical to combine the presidential and extraordinary parliamentary elections.

"We have to call the presidential elections fairly quickly and I hope that the President of the Assembly will do it, and the parliamentary elections must be the result of the agreement regarding the shortening of the mandate", said Abazović.

When asked if there is a possibility that the negotiations of the parliamentary majority will continue, the Prime Minister and the leader of the GP URA said:

"Realistically, I don't see how we could now return to the same table again, if we had a similar situation," said Abazović and added that politicians often know how to surprise.

"If there is a surprise, hopefully a positive one, then there are no problems," said Abazaović.

Asked if he rules out the possibility of the formation of the 44th Government, the Prime Minister says: "I have nothing additional to say about that. I understand the various interpretations, but the government cannot be formed in such a way that apart from the president, who approached the situation seriously and responsibly, we do not know any programmatic or personnel solution of that government, apart from the mandate holder. I think it is frivolous", said Abazović.

The position of the General Assembly of the URA was, as Abazović points out, to agree on everything and schedule the Assembly after that.

"If someone says, no, we need to schedule a session of the Assembly, and then we'll see later what the strategic direction of that government is, and then later we'll see who the people are and whether those people are suitable for everyone or not, that's really frivolous, so I think that episode is over," Abazović said.

According to the Prime Minister, the mandate holder tried to do his job very properly and behaved tolerantly towards everything that was heard.

He repeated the position of the URA GP that four judges of the Constitutional Court are up for election.

When asked how realistic it is for the Democratic Front and the current position to vote for shortening the mandate of the Assembly, Abazović said that it was not a question for him.

"That is a question for the DF, let them agree on it with the DPS", said Abazović.
