Constitutional Committee to begin the procedure of a new public invitation for the election of judges

The President of the Montenegrin Assembly Danijela Djurovic sent a letter to the President of the Constitutional Committee of the Assembly Simonidi Kordic, in which she indicated that, in mind the overall political and institutional crisis in the country, it is necessary for the Constitutional Committee, which has an already scheduled session for Friday, maximally up -to -date and Expeditiously begins and subsequently the procedure for a new public call for the election of the Judge of the Constitutional Court.

Djurovic said that it was necessary for the proposition of the text of the public call to be prepared for the session so that it could be determined at that session and submitted to the "official list" and the printed medium for the publication, the Claims on the Constitutional Court of Montenegro.

Also, the President of the Assembly suggested the presidents of the Constitutional Committee to consider the possibility of using the shortest public invitation by law, so for 15 days, which would not lose transparency, since the information on the election of the Constitutional Court's judge is widely widespread in to the public and very present in the media and in potentially interested candidates.

In addition, President Djurovic pointed out that, after completing a public call, an efficient work when performing interviews and formation of the proposal to the Assembly could significantly contribute to the acceleration of the election procedure.

Recalling that on January 19, in 2023, the last deadline for calling for the President of Montenegro is that the municipality has not been constituted in one number of new local authorities with the results of the election of October 23 under the pronunciation that the Constitutional Court's decisions are awaited, President Djurovic is pointed out that this additionally talks about the urgency of the constitutional court's completion.

The President of the Assembly also recalled the fact that the completion of the Constitutional Court is also necessary because of numerous procedures in the field of the protection of other citizens' rights addressing this insitition, as well as the rights to an effective remedy in our legal system.

Finally, President Djurovic indicated that the Constitutional Court is expected to decide with the Constitution of several legal projects and the constitutional assessment of the procedures of individual institutions.

"With this act, President Djurovic has made her maximum contribution to accelerating the re -initiation of the election of candidates for the judges of the Constitutional Court and has shown the determination to continue to work on resolving this issue that is the main stumbling block on the European path of our country," the statement said Assembly of Montenegro.
