Croatia is satisfied with UNESCO's decision

The entry "The Feast of St. Tripun and the Circle of St. Tripun, a tradition of Croats from Boka Kotorska who live in Croatia" on the UNESCO Representative List should be a reminder of the importance of the restoration, presentation and promotion of the cultural heritage that Croats have created for centuries in the area of ​​Boka Kotorska and which today must to be the link between Croatia and Montenegro, said the Croatian Minister of Culture and Media, Nina Obuljen Koržinek.
Celebrations of St. Tripuna and the car of St. Tripuna - the tradition of Bokelje Croats in the Republic of Croatia" is a new Croatian cultural property inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Heritage, the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media announced on Tuesday.
The decision to this effect was made unanimously by UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage at a meeting held on Tuesday in the Moroccan city of Rabat.
The Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, in cooperation with the associations of Bokelje, nominated the celebration of St. Tripun and the circle of St. Tripun - a tradition of the Croats of Bokelje in the Republic of Croatia, for the protection and registration of this cultural phenomenon on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, in order to confirm its value and significance not only as national, but also as part of world heritage.
"The registration is a recognition of all those who made efforts and were careful to preserve the intangible asset from disappearing, and also had a strong influence that it continues to live, by implementing and undertaking various measures to protect it. This heritage is proof of the thousand-year presence of Croats in the area of ​​Boka Kotorska and is deeply rooted in the mentality of the people and is an important part of their lives today," the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media points out.
At the same time, the Ministry adds, this valuable heritage represents a permanent connection between the past and the future of Bokelje as active actors in living and preserving it from oblivion for future generations who will then pass it on to their future generations.
Their contribution to the preservation of this intangible asset was made by Bokelji, who for the past ten years and centuries have been marking the celebration of St. Tripuna has been proudly preserving it from oblivion and passing it on to younger generations for many years.

On the occasion of today's decision, the Minister of Culture and Media of Croatia, Nina Obuljen Koržinek, sent a video message thanking the members of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Secretariat of the Convention from 2003, and all members of the cultural sector and member states that promote the Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage. .
She expressed great pride in the new Croatian, nineteenth entry of intangible cultural property on the Representative List of UNESCO.
"I thank everyone who preserves and passes on this valuable intangible heritage to young generations. I hope and believe that this entry will contribute to the valorization and protection of this phenomenon in Croatia, but at the same time will be a reminder of the importance of the restoration, presentation and promotion of the cultural heritage that Croats have created for centuries in the area of ​​Boka Kotorska and which today must be the link between Croatia and Montenegro ", said the minister.
