DPS does not agree to be subsequently involved in the selection of judges

For the President of Montenegro and the DPS, Milo Đukanović, it was expected that no agreement was reached between the representatives of the parties at the meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament, Danijela Đurović. When it comes to voting for judges of the Constitutional Court on November 28, he said that DPS does not agree to be subsequently involved in what he said was an irresponsible first step in conceiving the proposal for the election of judges. Answering the question whether he will come to the next "Ima nas" protest, he said that he is here, but that he is giving a chance to new people.
He believes that the Montenegrin public learns about the quality of the political scene from all procedures.
"We have different approaches to solving open issues in the political life of Montenegro. My proposal was expected. I said that the approach of the party I represent is to send a message of commitment to the Constitution and the constitutional order of the country," he said.
He pointed out that they said they were ready to discuss the election of judges of the Constitutional Court as soon as possible, but not in the way it was started.
"And it started upside down. The current majority came out with their list of candidates instead of doing it together," said Đukanović.
The third idea was to open talks about early elections.
"On the contrary, the majority of representatives from the parliamentary majority insisted that at least one judge be elected, even though they agreed that this does not mean putting the court into office," he said.
Even with the fourth judge, the Constitutional Court will have a hard time reaching a single decision, because, as he states, it is necessary for all judges to vote for it.
"So, again, we had an offer to play with politics and national interests. Instead, I tried to offer a healthy concept. In order to achieve that, the concept of absolutizing party interests must be abandoned," Đukanović said.
It is also possible to go to Strasbourg
Answering the question of whether he will sign the Law on the President, he said that the question should be left to see how the parliamentary majority will react.
"I made a certain step towards the Venice Commission, it is possible to make a step towards the court in Strasbourg, but I do not think that it is necessary to inform those who brutally violated the Constitution about what my position will be. I think it is valuable to see to what extent their responsibility towards the Constitution and the state can go", he said.
