Education union: We will organize a mass protest in front of the Assembly

The Education Union of Montenegro (SPCG) will organize and hold a mass protest in front of the Parliament of Montenegro on the day of the Budget debate, announced the Main Board of the SPCG.
This decision of the Main Board of the SPCG was made at an extraordinary session held tonight, which followed the decision of the Government of Montenegro not to plan funds for the salaries of employees in education in the Budget for 2024 in accordance with the Branch Collective Agreement.
Three conclusions were reached at the session.
1. The Education Union of Montenegro will organize and hold a mass protest in front of the Parliament of Montenegro on the day of the debate on the Budget. We invite all members of the Montenegrin Education Union and other employees in education to suspend work in their institutions on that day", according to the SPCG announcement delivered to the media.
According to them, this step is "a forced response to the decision of the Government of Montenegro to ignore the GKU for the field of education".
2. In the event that the Government of Montenegro and the Parliament of Montenegro brutally violate the Branch Collective Agreement, the Education Union of Montenegro will call on all education employees to start the second semester with a general strike. 3. At the same time, the Union of Education of Montenegro will initiate lawsuits that will ultimately cost the state over 20 million euros in court costs", the conclusions were reached at tonight's session.
The SPCG states that one must not, as they say, "allow obvious injustice by one's own state".
Colleagues and fellow educators, we must not allow obvious injustice on the part of our state, because in this way the message is sent that fraud and violation of the law are acceptable. The members of the Education Union of Montenegro will receive more detailed instructions, as well as the exact date of the protest, in the following days, the union says.
