Eight candidates are asking Drljevic for a transparent process

AUTHOR: M.J.

Eight candidates for general director of Radio Television of Montenegro addressed the Public Service Council this morning because, as they say, unfortunately, they will publish the list of all candidates registered for the leading position of that media house only at the end of the month, ie on August 27.

It is still not known to the public whether the director general Boris Raonic, who was illegally elected several times, applied for the competition.

"The fact that the names of all those who applied will be known about 15 days after the end of the competition points to the non-transparency of the process. The names must be known without special announcements and delays, and the correctness of the documentation can be checked later. This is the only way to avoid manipulation, subsequent addition or subtraction," the letter to the media states.

They state that they therefore sent a request to the RTCG Council, in which they ask for transparent representation and public interviews.

"As candidates in the competition for the general director of RTCG, we ask for our transparent presentation, public interviews, media coverage, published development programs on our portal, all for the sake of the public so that citizens can have an insight into our work and yours," says the request to the RTCG Council. a.

They state that these documents, as well as the interviews, must not be secret, and that the public must be aware of who's intentions.

"Citizens will thus immediately find out the vision of who and why you choose and evaluate who you favor not only by name", says the request signed by the candidates for RTCG general director Časlav Vujotić, Srđan Čović, Slaven Knezović, Sabrija Vulić, Žarko Božović, Snežana Burzan Vuksanović and Adrian Kadi.

Yesterday, the Vice-President of the Council, Marijana Camović Veličković, addressed the Council, the lone voice in that body who has been pointing out the illegal activities of the members of the Council and the current Acting Director General of RTCG, Boris Raonic, who has been elected to that position twice.

"The latest electronic session, which you opened unexpectedly, informs us that we will only find out who the candidates for general director are on August 27, that is, 13 days after the end of the competition. How did you get to that date? The result of consultations with (all) members of the Council is certainly not. How did you come up with the proposal for the members of the commission that will deal with the applications? Last time, in addition to the lawyers from RTCG, all of us from the Council were members. Why are we being skipped now? Who decided that? What kind of commission is that," Camović Veličković asked in a letter to President Veselin Drljević and members of the Council.

On August 21, the Council of the RTCG made a decision on the formation of a committee to open and review the applications received for the announced competition at an electronic session, closed to the public.

Balša Milić, a lawyer graduated from the RTCG Council, was elected as the president of the commission, and Irena Vešović and Rada Ćupić, chief legal specialists, were elected as members.

In a letter to the Council, Camović Veličković said that Drljević continuously undermines the role of that body and its members who were elected to those positions in order to represent the public interest on behalf of the citizens of Montenegro.

Camović Veličković reminds that in 2021, the same council chose the general director 15 days after the end of the competition, while the names of the candidates were known on the same day.

"Previously, there was an interest in ending Božidar Šundić's mandate as soon as possible. Now what is the motive for procrastination? I believe you are aware that everyone is clear, but I ask anyway.

The deadlines are the same in 2021 as they are today, so you can't invent them for your own benefit," says Camović-Veličković.

The new competition was announced on July 15 after Boris Raonic resigned on July 10, after the entry into force of the new Law on RTCG, and then at the same session of the Council he was appointed v. d.. director.
