Foreign Minister of Austria and Slovenia today in Podgorica

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria and Slovenia, Alexander Saleberg and Tanja Fajon, resides today in Podgorica, at the mandate of the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for foreign affairs and the safety policy Joseph Borel.

According to the EU delegation in Podgorica, the ministers will speak with the President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic, the President of the Assembly Danijel Djurovic and the Prime Minister in the Technical term Dritan Abazovic.

"Montenegro is one of the closest EU partners, it has progressed well in accessing negotiations and has the longest experience of complete harmony with the common external and insignificant politics of the Union," the statement said.

It is stated that the visit organized at a time when recent political happenings caused a serious institutional crisis, stimulating democratic institutions and slowing down the progress of the state on the path of EU accession.

"The visit will be an opportunity to emphasize that, in order to progress to the EU accession, which is the desire of the vast majority of Montenegro citizens, all political actors should support the functionality of institutions, and especially the Constitutional Court," the statement said.

As announced, the Ministers will hold a joint press conference after a meeting with Montenegrin officials.
