IMCG: Council RTCG in the service of politics torn from the public

AUTHOR: M.J.
The manner of re-election of the general director of RTV Montenegro, Boris Raonic, completely exposed the nature of the current Council and the media house and confirmed the suspicions that this outcome is the result of political bargains, and not a true will for the most important media house in the country to contribute to building trust in the institutions of the system and the rule of law. they said from the Media Institute of Montenegro.
"With the unanimous consent of the members of the Council present, with the honorable exception of the Council's vice-president, Marijana Camović Veličković, by giving Raonic a third mandate, regardless of the earlier judgments of the courts on the illegal election to the position of general director, the Council insulted all well-intentioned citizens who set aside around 20 million euros for work of the Public Service.
By disrespecting the decisions of the courts and re-electing Raonic, to whom those decisions refer, by ignoring the justified revolt of the public in relation to the current management and the way of management of the most important media house in the country, the Council has been completely cut off from the public it should serve and placed itself at the disposal of certain political centers of power , which is bad for the future of that media company and media freedom in Montenegro," the Institute said in a statement.
With a performance for the public, in which, as they said, the opposing candidates had no chance, the citizens, unfortunately, witnessed the impotence of the institutions of the system.
"Such a practice distances them from the aspiration and need to establish a fairer system based on equal opportunities, meritocracy and respect for the law, not on power and control," they conclude in the statement.
