Is a great torment

The price of renting apartments in Montenegro in the last half year, they have jumped enormously. As we were confirmed by several Podgorica real estate agencies in the capital, with their mediation, it is impossible to find a one -bedroom apartment of 30 square meters below 500 euros a month. This information was confirmed to us by the president of the Montenegrin Podtanar Association Dragan Zivkovic.

"Today, you can rent a room in the suburban settlement in Podgorica for 150 euros a month, while the price of the apartment has jumped onto 500 euros," Zivkovic said.

Flats without intermediaries are a bit cheaper, however, mostly these are locations in unmarried suburban settlements and rural areas. The quality of construction and conditions in these apartments are also much lower. The cause of the jump price for rent is, as they say in agencies and associations of tenants, the arrival of the Ukrainians, but also the Russians.

"This situation would not be possible for the state to take care of it. We have a situation where the real estate market is irregular and left to the arbitrariness of individuals, ”Zivkovic points out.

The tenants we survey have worried.

"The situation is unthinkable. The rent jumped into the sky, when you add the prices of food products and everything else needed for a living, it is increasingly likely that I will end up on the street soon. ”

The president of the Association of Subject Dragan Zivkovic emphasized that the tenants are the most vulnerable socio-economic category. He appealed to the state to finally address the problems of that population and provide them with some kind of subsidies.

"But it is also necessary to start the social construction process with which it is 30 years late. Without that, this situation will only get worse, ”Zivkovic claims.

There is no official data on the current number of tenants. According to the 2011 census, almost 30,000 family had some form of tenant status. And in the associations of the tenants, they estimate that this number is duplicated today.
