Lekić: There is no majority for the formation of the government, the support of the URA MPs is lacking

Demos leader and mandate holder Miodrag Lekić informed today the leaders of the parliamentary majority from August 2020 that he does not yet have the necessary majority to form a new government, as he lacks three votes from the GP URA deputies. This is stated in Lekić's third and last letter to the leaders of the parliamentary majority, which Portal RTCG had access to.
Lekić previously informed the parties that won the election from August 2020 that he had a meeting with Abazović on March 10, at which Abazović told him that he had failed to reach an agreement in contacts with MP Genci Nimanbegu and thus reached the number of 41 MPs for the formation of a new Governments.
CIVIS MP Srđan Pavićević, in his reply to Lekić, stated yesterday that Lekić has his support for the formation of the 44th Government with the participation of Civis in it, as was the case in the previous two governments.
"I thank my colleague Pavićević for his answer, comment and clear position. There is no response from URE, which points to the opposition of that party, (with a legitimate right) to form a government based on the proposed bases that I presented to Abazović, as well as the Political Agreement that we signed earlier," said Lekić.
It remains for him, as he says, like everyone else, to state that he still does not have the necessary majority for the composition of the 44th government - now for three votes in the Parliament.
"Let me remind you that the formation of the 44th government was not a goal in itself, but an attempt to achieve legitimate institutional stability based on the now rather forgotten will of the citizens in the August 2020 elections. And after two experiments, unknown in comparative democratic practice. That's why after the failure to form a government based on democratic rules and victory, it remains for all of us to take responsibility for the resulting balance," concluded Lekić, reports RTCG.
