Mićo Orlandić passed away

Mićo Orlandić, a prominent politician, social and public worker of Bar and Montenegro, one of the founders of social democracy in the country, died today after a long illness.
He was born in 1956 in Bar, where he completed primary and secondary school, and then the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade.
He started his political career in 1983 as the president of the Municipal Conference of the Bar Socialist Youth Alliance, then he was a member of the Presidency of the Municipal Conference of the Bar Communist Alliance, then the executive secretary of the Municipal Conference of the Bar Communist Alliance. After the introduction of the multi-party system, he was the president of the Bar Communist Independent Organization, which became part of the Alliance of Reform Forces of Montenegro. He is among the founders of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP) in June 1993. In 2015, he also participated in the formation of the Social Democrats of Montenegro (SD), and he was also the long-term president of the Municipal Committee of the Social Democrats of Bar.
Orlandić was a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro for many years, a member of the Committee for International Relations and Emigrants, the Committee for Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Spatial Planning, and the Committee for Anti-Corruption. He held the position of minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Montenegro from 2001 to 2005, was assistant to the Minister of Internal Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Montenegro, and director of the Real Estate Administration.
He held the position of vice-president of the Bar Municipality Assembly and councilor in the Bar Municipality Assembly, and he was the director of the JP "Cultural Center" in Bar from 1991 to 1996. Thanks to him, "Jletopis" took its place on the cultural map of Montenegro, partly due to the fact that during the madness of the Balkan wars, it was open to free-thinking artists from all over the former Yugoslavia. Orlandić was the founder and director of the publishing house "Conteco".
Mić Orlandić's last public function was as President of the Bar Municipal Assembly in July 2018. He was the head of the local parliament, as the holder of the Social Democrat list in the elections, until December 2020.
He is survived by his wife Biljana, son Danilo, daughter Danijela and four grandchildren. The funeral of Mić Orlandić will be held on Thursday, at 3 pm, in the village of Seoca, in Crmnica.
