Milo Božović was remanded in custody for up to 30 days

The President of the Municipality of Budva, Milo Božović, was taken to the Investigative Prison in Spuž, where, as decided by the investigating judge of the High Court, Goran Šćepanović, he will remain for the next 30 days after an investigation was launched against him for the creation of a criminal organization and drug smuggling. Božović was remanded in custody due to the risk of escape and influence on witnesses, and his defense attorneys, lawyers Danilo Mićović and Miroje Jovanović, announced an appeal against this decision of the investigating judge.
According to sources from the previous investigation, which was conducted in cooperation with Europol, Božović has long been identified as a person who has connections with the drug trade.
Božović was arrested on Thursday in the family house in the center of Budva. He was then taken to Podgorica, where he was interrogated by the Special Prosecutor's Office, which ordered him to be detained for up to 72 hours on Thursday evening.
Božović denied all accusations in the Special Prosecutor's Office, and his lawyer Miroje Jovanović said that the arrest was politically motivated.
He said that Božović denied SDT's accusations.
He stated this explicitly in his defense. I hope that we will be able to prove it very soon - said Jovanović.
The connections with the mafia of Democratic Front functionaries and the current President of the Municipality of Budva, Milo Božović, were exposed by the "Skaj" application, a once protected "connection", which the international security services managed to decipher and deliver the transcripts of the conversations to colleagues, including the Montenegrin services.
Many transcripts reached the media, and this was also the case with the communications of members of the Skaljar clan and the Budva group - in which Božović is mentioned as a trustworthy person.
The M portal, which published a series of transcripts of those conversations since August last year, reported on October 31, 2022 that foreign services are also dealing with the criminal connections of the President of the Municipality of Budva.
American services have been particularly interested in the new president of the Municipality of Budva for years, which Božović himself allegedly knows - M portal reported at the time.
In October of last year, the M portal also announced that the security services have had operative data for years about Božović's close ties with Miloš Nilović Runja, the "right hand" of Filip Korać, Luka Bojović's associate who manages his affairs.
They announced that a few years ago, Božović and Nilović were in a car that was controlled at the GP Dobrakovo and that around 50,000 euros were found in Božović's possession.
In 2017, Nilović was arrested in an operation by the Serbian gendarmerie in the Belgrade restaurant "Durmitor" together with about 10 other "scumbags", and on that day, as stated by the M portal, another friend of Milo Božović - Mališa Vućić from Nikšić - was arrested with him. .
This man from Nikšić was detained and interrogated on the eve of the local elections in Nikšić on March 14, 2021 due to suspicions that, together with Božović and Rajko Baćović Džeger, he was buying votes for the needs of the Democratic Front. Božović then said that he was not detained, and police sources claimed that he invoked parliamentary immunity.
Božović was taken into custody together with SNS officials Vlado Mandić and Rado Šijan in Nikšić in January 2021 on suspicion of bringing in money to buy votes. Božović then invoked parliamentary immunity.
In the transcripts, published by M portal, as a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Security and Defense at the time, Božović was supposed to influence the dismissal of Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoj Katnić, Special Prosecutor Saša Čađenović and Police Administration official Zoran Lazović, whom they treated as the main threat. .
Members of the Skaljar clan refer to him in communications as a trustworthy man, "worth millions and millions", the owner of buildings, bars, restaurants, yachts, who "makes goods and owns ships for 15 years".
