Milorad Marković is the new Supreme State Prosecutor

AUTHOR: M.J.
Members of the Montenegrin Parliament elected today Milorad Marković as the new Supreme State Prosecutor (VDT). Apart from Marković, the candidates were Maja Jovanović and Suzana Mugoša. A total of 74 deputies voted. No one voted for Maja Jovanović, 13 deputies voted for Suzana Mugoša, and 61 deputies voted for Milorad-Miško Marković.
The Supreme State Prosecutor's Office has been in a state of emergency since Ivica Stanković's mandate expired five years ago. On October 7, 2019, Stanković was appointed acting the Supreme Prosecutor, later acting VDT were also other prosecutors, and none of the contests and attempts led to the election of a new Supreme Prosecutor for a full term by a two-thirds majority of deputies, that is, a three-fifths majority in the second round.
Until today, when Milorad Marković became VDT in full term.
Milorad Marković has a master's degree in legal sciences, with many years of experience in the field of rule of law, human rights, justice, criminal law and confiscation of property benefits.
He worked at the Faculty of Law in Podgorica, but also as an expert/consultant on EU, Council of Europe, OSCE, AIRE Center and UNDP projects.
The debate in the parliament started around 2:00 p.m., and voting began at 5:15 p.m.
