Montenegro condemns none caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine

Montenegro openly and strongly condemns the caused aggression of Russia against Ukraine, the president of Montenegro Jakov Milatović said during the meeting with the President of Ukraine with Volodimir Zelenski.

"Ukraine will always have a friend in Montenegro, and as well as so far we will provide overall political support in bilateral and multilateral frameworks, including the Euro-Atlantic commitment of Ukraine citizens," Milatović said.

He welcomed last year's EU decision on the awarding of the status of the candidates of Ukraine.

"Montenegro as a country that is mostly in the process of joining is ready to help Ukraine on that path," President Milatović said.

He announced that Montenegro should join the Joint Declaration of the G7 member states, as well as the initiative of the President of the Zelenski "Formula for Peace", which will be made by the Government.

He added that a series of important decisions in Vilnus, which was determined by the additional practical and political support of Ukraine through a comprehensive assistance package.

Milatovic said that Montenegro has made a decision to redirect financial resources in July this year in the amount of half a million US dollars for Ukraine this year.

Since the beginning of the war, Montenegro has allocated about 10m euros for military and other assistance to that country, which is about 10 percent of the annual national defense allocations.

Milatovic reminded that Montenegro was the first country outside the EU, which made a decision allowing for temporary protection to the faces of Ukraine.

Zelenski thanked President Milatovic at the support of Montenegro so far, and called him to visit Kiev, where the agreement on friendship and cooperation between the two countries would be signed.
