Montenegro does not need much to expect from an open Balkans

Montenegro does not need much to expect an open Balkan (OB) initiative, especially after the European Union (EU) has given a new wind in the back of the Berlin process, the reporter of the European Parliament told Crno Gora Tonino Picula.

As it was reported from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Picula said during the interview with the Prophet Andrija Nikolic and Nikola Rakocevic, that Montenegro was increasingly synonymous with the leadership of European integration in the region in the past period.

DPS reported that, during the interview, it was jointly evaluated that the upcoming assembly session that would be re-voted on the amendments to the Law on the President and the election of the Constitutional Court Judge, should be shown whether there are capacities for political parties in Montenegro respect for the Constitution and the unblocking of institutions.

According to the statement, Nikolic and Rakocevic have made a mistake with the report of the EP for Montenegro that it is crucial for the positive shifts in the EU integration to the EU to be crucial for the proevropic political parties to find interest in compromise.

“Montenegro has been increasingly synonymous with crisis from the leaders of European integration in the region in the past. The situation in Montenegro should not be further dramatized, but we must not underestimate its seriousness, ”Picula said.

Picula said that for the complete healing of Montenegrin institutions, it would be best to bring a dialogue to organize extraordinary parliamentary elections in parliament, with the aim of forming a clear assembly majority.

According to him, the Montenegrin road to the EU, which has dramatically slowed down, could breathe a new air.

"Responding to Rakočević and Nikolic's warnings about the danger of further erosion of institutions in the event of a potential involvement of the country in Vucic's Open Balkan initiative, Picula concluded that the open Balkan project on the road to (P) remains irrelevant," the statement said.

As he added, Picula said that Montenegro does not need much to expect from that initiative, especially after the EU has given a new wind in the back of the Berlin process.

"Nikolić and Rakočević and the EP reporter for Montenegro exchanged opinions and about the seriously changed geopolitical circumstances in which we live, where, as they concluded, the recorded European direction of Montenegro should not be called into question," DPS said.
