Montenegro to show its commitment to EU actions, not just declarations

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman said that Montenegro must show by actions that it is committed to European values, not just declaratively. At the Bled forum, Grlić Radman, when asked by Pobjeda about the possibilities for our country to be a member of the EU by 2030, said that the most important thing is to form a government in Montenegro.

Because this crisis lasts a little longer. The last chapter was closed during the Croatian presidency in June 2020. A lot of time has passed since then. Montenegro was formed based on the internal political situation, and we expect that Montenegro, which has opted for European values and respect for human rights, will continue that path of the process, but surely it must demonstrate this in action when it comes to the formation of a government that should be pro-European. oriented not only in its declarations but also in action - said Grlić Radman Pobjeda at the Bled Forum, adding that he wants to see reforms in Montenegro.

Croatia as a neighbor will be happy to help as in previous years. Although we did not resolve any open issues with Montenegro, Croatia stood by Montenegro anyway, we gave Montenegro a chance, but Montenegro must show in action that it is ready to work on closing the chapter and actively tackle reforms and meeting those criteria who are wanted - Grlić Radman said for Pobjeda.

Asked if he expects Adrijan Vuksanović to be part of the new government, he said that Vuksanović has the strong support of the Croatian government, as well as HGI.

We are glad that Vuksanović entered the Assembly, but we will support all his arrangements when it comes to those who negotiate with the government - Grlić Radman stated.

He said that they cannot interfere in the internal affairs of Montenegro.

That must be decided by the parties and those leaders who have received the support of the citizens of Montenegro, but the Croatian government will support any government that is pro-European oriented, that wants to achieve a European perspective - the Croatian minister pointed out.

When it comes to bilateral disputes with Montenegro, he said that they will be resolved within the framework of bilateral dialogue, which is necessary.

It was not customary for bilateral issues to be a stumbling block or a condition, but we expect understanding and political wisdom from Montenegro. You know that there are a lot of open questions that are the result of Greater Serbia's aggression against Croatia - pointed out Grlić Radman.

One of the open questions is who owns the school ship "Jadran". Grlić Radman says that in 1990 the ship from its home port of Lora in Split went to Tivat for overhaul, and that it was supposed to return to Split after the overhaul.

But he was kept there for 30 years and we have seen in this month that unacceptable things have happened to us. An exhibition is one thing, I can understand that, but marking the 90th anniversary of that ship, which was built in Split, without a single word mentioning the Adriatic Guard, nor that the Adriatic Guard largely financed its construction, nor a single word mentioning Croatia - he said. Grlić Radman.

What did he say to Abazović regarding "Jadran"

Asked if he had discussed this issue with Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, Grlić Radman said that they had not had a bilateral meeting after the note of protest sent by Croatia regarding the "Jadran" ship.

We met and said hello. He asked: How are you, how did you come? I say: here, I just arrived on the Croatian ship "Jadran". He laughed and that's all - explained Radman.

Everyone keeps their property, it is not easy to keep even their own property today, let alone alienated property - he added.
