NGO group: The EU's mood on Montenegro's membership must not miss

The latest decisions and messages of European officials are a positive signal for Montenegro in relation to possible membership in the European Union and is the right moment to use them smart, according to the statement of the Group of Montenegrin NGOs.

We are again, as they say, get the opportunity and the mood of the European Union for Integration, which decision makers must recognize the proper way and intensify activities in the fulfillment of temporary criteria.

All divisions need to be forgotten, that all structures are included, where the accession process must be set as a priority. Although these indications are positive, the current atmosphere in the public scene, which is in the sign of party crawlers and lists in the shadows of identity issues, form an unfavorable environment that the topic of the EU Agenda is placed in the Center of Public Discourse. That is why the real moment is that the Government and Assembly of Montenegro and other Montenegrin institutions use all possible resources and mechanisms available to them and be agile in implementing activities aimed at the European Union. In addition, after the establishment of technical-administrative conditions, as one of the first steps, we expect the appointment of the main negotiator to keep negotiations with the EU, according to the statement.

As they add, Montenegro must focus on the rule of law and human rights, given their importance in the new methodology, where these areas are located in 23 and 24 chapter.

However, it is important to note that by no means to ignore other chapters. At this crucial time, we invite everyone to get involved, because this is a race that the whole Montenegro must win. We have never had a doors so far, and that is why it is also necessary for the public to focus on this very important issue that is of interest for all of us. That is why we send the appeal and the media and the NGO sector to contribute, and decision makers to recognize them as important partners who can significantly contribute to the EU path. At this stage, we are witnessing, on the one hand, several significant shifts on that path, such as the Seventh Judge of the Constitutional Court, the election of three members of the Parliament of Montenegro and several essential steps towards creating conditions for Continuation of key reforms, add from the NGO group.

As they say, a lot of rhetorics also heard, without many specific actions that would follow conviction and promises.

In the end, we invite all social actors to actively engage and achieve results in order to achieve real progress and shaped the future of Montenegro towards European standards, conclude.
