Nišić: Montenegro lost focus on key EU reforms

Montenegro has lost focus on key EU reforms, is another clear message from the leaders of the European Union, communicated through the EC's non-paper on the rule of law. Such ratings are not easily obtained, nor are they easily corrected, but they should not be taken lightly, said the director of Social Democrats (SD) Irma Nišić.
She stated that this is not the first report that talks about the state of our European path and the determination of the three-year-old government to deliberately stop EU integration, but, she says, it must be the last one with negative evaluations.
We have to get up and start realizing the obligations we have assumed in order to fulfill the criteria for membership - emphasized Nišić.
According to her, the deep institutional crisis, the current state of the judiciary, but also the lack of capacity in most of the others is worrying. He reminds that it was once emphasized the necessity of Montenegro to fulfill the critical deficiency identified within the temporary benchmarks for negotiation chapters 23 and 24.
This non paper, and the report that will follow, must be an indication that Montenegro needs a stable government that is capable of implementing reforms for membership, and that is capable of providing a qualified majority for key appointments that are missing as well as for reform laws. It is certain that when the Government of Dritan Abazović finally becomes a thing of the past, and hopefully soon, Montenegro will again see the European future, because this report also showed that negotiations do not exist - said Nišić.
