Burning the carnival is a long-standing tradition during Mimosa Day in Herceg Novi, during which the local population tries to face reality in an ironic and humorous way.
Judging by the photos from social networks, in Herceg Novi tonight, on the final night of the 55th Mimosa Festival, they are planning to burn a doll symbolizing the writer Andrej Nikolaidis at the carnival.
A prominent Montenegrin writer, once the winner of the highest state award - the Thirteenth of July Award, will be "burned" for reasons known only to the residents of Herceg Novi.
To make the irony even greater, Nikolaidis was awarded just a week ago in Engelska, where his novel "Anomaly" won the prize of the English PEN Center.
