Nikolić: DPS will also fight for Montenegro's membership in the EU from the opposition

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), as a state-building party, is ready to cooperate with everyone who wants Montenegro to become a member of the European Union (EU) as soon as possible, said the head of the party's parliamentary group, Andrija Nikolić.
He said this in a conversation with the head of the Unit for Montenegro and Serbia in the General Directorate for Neighborhood and Negotiations on the Enlargement of the European Commission, Michael Miller.
Nikolić concluded that a strong state that advances towards the EU is created by the cooperation of all those who wish it well, and that is not the principle that brought together all the constituents of the parliamentary majority.
In the conversation with Miller, Nikolić said that there was no political courage to form a truly European government in Montenegro, but that despite this, it is not crucial for the DPS whether they will fight from the positions of the government or the opposition for the fulfillment of the key state goal - membership in the EU .
"We are a state-building party that has a backbone, does not trade national interests, and is ready to cooperate with everyone who wants Montenegro to become a member of the EU as soon as possible," said Nikolić, DPS announced.
It is reported that Miller emphasized that all political actors in Montenegro should cooperate, above party interests, on the implementation of key reforms in the area of the rule of law, in order to enable Montenegro to progress on its way to the EU, in accordance with the wishes of the vast majority of its citizens. citizens.
Reforms in the area of the rule of law, as Miller said, are of crucial importance for the implementation of the planned EU growth plan for the Western Balkans.
