Picula will monitor the presidential elections: They will be characterized by polarization

The rapporteur of the European Parliament for Montenegro, Tonino Picula, will observe the presidential elections in Montenegro on March 19.
As announced, the seven-member mission of the European Parliament will arrive in Montenegro on Thursday, March 16, and in Podgorica will hold meetings with the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for European Security and Cooperation OSCE/ODIHR, the permanent representative of the European Union in Montenegro, Oana Kristina Pope, as well as with the ambassadors of the European Union member states accredited in Montenegro, and other international organizations in Montenegro, such as the mission of the Council of Europe.
The elections that will be held in Montenegro in a little more than two weeks will certainly be marked by the polarization that has been paralyzing the political life of the most advanced candidate country for EU membership for more than two years. It is up to us as a mission to monitor the legality of the elections, as well as the circumstances of their implementation - announced Picula.
Picula and members of the mission will hold a meeting with representatives of local and international organizations on the topics of election legislation and monitoring of the election process, with whom they will analyze candidate campaigns, as well as media coverage of the election.
He also meets with candidates for the president of Montenegro.
On the election day itself, they will observe the elections in Podgorica, and after that they will hold a joint press conference where they will give an assessment of the conduct of the elections.
