PISONERO: Montenegro submitted insufficient ripe projects

Projects that Montenegro ran for the Fifth Investment Package within the EU's Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans were assessed as premature or unfavorable funding, the RTCG public service from the European Commission (EC) was announced.

Montenegro submitted investment projects in the areas of energy, environment and traffic, which were assessed by the Investment Framework for the Western Balkans or unfit in terms of financial commission.

The European Commission announced that the new financial package for the support of 14 leading investment projects in the field of transport, energy, environment, human capital and private sector supported in the Western Balkans, was initiated in the end of last week. However, among those projects, none of Montenegro.

We believe that Montenegro will continue with the preparation and maturing of these investment proposals for potentially re-submission in the following calls for the investment projects of the Western Balkans investment framework - the Pisonero pointed out.

The EC spokesperson explains that Montenegro benefits from three technical assistance projects (EUR 3.5 million) under this invitation for investment preparation in the transport and energy sectors.

Approved, among other things, the priority sectors such as the construction of shares and subtitles of the highway and corridor VIIJE in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in Northern Macedonia .

Other projects include strengthening the portable network of North Macedonia or developing green transport in Tirana.

When it comes to environmental projects, the reconstruction of the Sarajevo water supply system will be funded to improve public health, strengthening commercial infrastructure and improve the overall supply efficiency in Sarajevo Canton.

In the field of human development from the new support package, the improvement of energy efficiency will be financed and integrated energy management, University of Belgrade.

EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Extension, Oliver Varchelji, emphasized that it is sent to partners from the Western Balkans to be sent to the EU and that the Union generates stable gap in economic development.

These projects will better connect the region from within and with the EU, help in decarbonization of their economies and support the competitiveness of the private sector in the region. Now I invite our partners from the Western Balkans and the international financial institution to initiate these projects as soon as possible to make citizens and enterprises in the region in the region of these investments - said Varchelji.
