Police officer arrested for abuse in Nikšić

Police officer Jovan Peković was arrested for abusing a person in Nikšić, the Police Administration announced.
On April 12, the police in Nikšić was informed by police officer Jovan Peković that he needed a vehicle in order to carry out an official act, the deprivation of liberty and the arrest of a person. An intervention unit was dispatched to the scene and brought B.S. to the official premises of the Nikšić Security Department. who requested a medical examination, which he was granted, and was taken to the Nikšić Medical Center - they stated in the announcement.
As they said, he was diagnosed with severe physical injuries in the form of three fractured ribs.
The competent prosecutor in the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić was informed of the above, on whose order further measures and actions were taken, the collection of information and the determination of facts and circumstances in relation to the mentioned event - the police added.
According to the statement of B.S. he sustained his injuries when, after a brief verbal discussion, a police officer physically attacked him and knocked him to the asphalt surface, after which he gave him two more blows in the body area.
Undertaking activities within their jurisdiction with the aim of establishing all circumstances and facts and elucidating the event, police officers collected information from several witnesses of the event, and performed the exclusion and review of several records from video surveillance. The case files were delivered to the acting prosecutor, who qualified the criminal offense of abuse in conjunction with the criminal offense of grievous bodily harm and ordered that the police officer Jovan Peković be deprived of his liberty - the police pointed out.
He was arrested and, along with a criminal complaint, will be brought to the acting prosecutor for further jurisdiction.
The immediate manager will initiate the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the aforementioned police officer, and the case files will be sent to the Department for Internal Control of the Police - they concluded in the announcement.
