The Education Union of Montenegro announced that they are organizing a protest in front of the Assembly on Wednesday. They said that they were forced to take that step due to injustice and violation of the Branch Collective Agreement. The Union of Education invited all Montenegrin educators to the "Protest - Public Hour".
"On Wednesday, December 27, the Montenegrin Education Union organizes a protest in front of the Assembly - a public hour to which all Montenegrin educators are invited. We are forced to take this step due to the injustice and violation of the Branch Collective Agreement by the Government of Montenegro. We have an obligation to we preserve the dignity of the profession to which we belong," states the open letter they addressed to students and their parents.
The educators said that they have an obligation to preserve the dignity of the profession they belong to. As there will be no classes in most schools on that day, they apologized to students and parents.
"Dear students and parents, in a large number of educational institutions in Montenegro, there will be no classes on that day, so we, as the organizers of the protest, apologize with the hope that you will understand us. It is the duty of educators to teach children the right values, to be free citizens, not to give up. Our efforts will be in vain, if we are not ready to show them on a practical example how to fight for what is true, for what is justice," the announcement states.
They said that they were not interrupting classes, but, as they said, they were sitting in front of the Assembly.
"We are not interrupting classes. We are moving them in front of the Assembly, where in an open school we all hold a public class together, with the teaching theme 'For a better tomorrow - Justice for education today'," the announcement states.
They also pointed out that this is one of the most important lessons they can teach the children.
"A lesson aimed at making the public recognize: that the basic purpose of the law is to help citizens and protect society; the obligations of the state and institutions to respect and implement laws and contracts (GKU); the importance of an educator for the social community; the contribution of teachers in shaping the future; problems and obstacles faced by educators in Montenegro," they said.
As educators, as they said, they teach a lesson on Wednesday, but also take an exam.
"We are convinced that you will understand the justification of our forced step and understand that the message we are sending from this public hour, which is that we seek law, justice and dignity for our profession, is extremely important for your and our children," it concludes. in the announcement of the Union of Education.
