Rifat Rastoder passed away

Rifat Rastoder, long-time vice president of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP) and the Parliament of Montenegro, died today at the age of 74 in Podgorica.

Born in Bihor, near Beran, on July 11, 1950, Rastoder was one of the closest circle of employees of the contemporary political scene of Montenegro, an anti-war activist from the period of the collapse of the former SFRY, and the creator and protagonist of the protection of human and, especially, minority rights in Montenegro.

Mirko Stanić, head of the Media Team of the SDP, said goodbye to Rastoder in a message on the Twitter social network.

Dear Rifate, we will remember your kindness, wisdom and calmness. Your faith in people and humanity even in the most difficult moments. Thanks for everything we learned from you - said Stanić.

Rifat Rastoder was a distinguished athlete, accomplished in the world of karate, in a competitive career, and then as a judge and coach.
