SCANDAL-They celebrate Russia on the anniversary of the war in Ukraine

Instead of attending classes, the students of Novka Ubović Primary School in Tološi celebrated the Russian Maslenitsa holiday yesterday. Although this Saturday was formally a working Saturday for students in Montenegro, the school management organized a celebration of the Russian holiday and boasted about it on the Facebook page.
Today at school we celebrated Maslenitsa, a traditional Russian holiday with delicious pancakes symbolizing the Sun, saying goodbye to winter and heralding spring, with music, delicious food and, above all, a happy mood. Parents, students and teachers were very happy to take part in preparing various diaconia, thus showing a beautiful form of cooperation. In addition to pancakes and diverse and delicious food, those present also had the opportunity to get acquainted with Russian souvenirs as an inseparable part of this holiday. On the table were matryoshka dolls, a samovar (tea vessel), wooden spoons, a kokoshnik (a traditional headdress of Russian girls). We all had a nice feast and talked about the customs characteristic of this holiday - it is written on the Facebook page of this school.
The director of this institution, Ljiljana Ćorac-Ražnatović, told Pobjeda that they had no intention of politically provoking anyone, but that this holiday has been celebrated in all schools for years because it is related to learning the culture of the Russian language, which children study, as well as customs and traditions.
We called it breakfast at our school, we even made a poster on which we did not state that it was a Russian holiday, but that you should come and treat yourself. This has been celebrated in all schools for years, because I am the president of the association of teachers of the Russian language and we have a tradition of informing each other about what we do in schools. We celebrated in all schools, and it is related to the Russian language and customs, and God forbid, we had no intention of promoting Russia - said Ćorac-Ražnatović.
Vukić Konjević, a retired professor and long-time director of Montenegrin schools, told Pobjeda that this is a scandal on top of scandals that is provoking the Montenegrin public, and at a time when the anniversary of the attack on Ukraine is being marked.
I spent 40 years in education and was a half-time director, but I have never seen anything like this. There are national and international holidays and they are celebrated, but to celebrate a foreign holiday, especially at this moment when Russia is destroying Ukraine, is a scandal upon scandals - says Konjević, believing that the director of this school and the Minister of Education should be held accountable for this event.
This is pure provocation. Does the person who organized this have an ounce of intelligence and conscience not to provoke the Montenegrin and the rest of the public with this kind of scandal, and that in a country that has imposed sanctions on Russia - said Konjević.
At the school in Tološi, tables were set up in the hall yesterday, and food was served, mostly pancakes, which are traditionally eaten in Russia when Shrovetide is celebrated.
As a reminder, according to the Law on Public Holidays, Montenegrin holidays are: May 21 - Independence Day, July 13 - Statehood Day, but also January 1 - New Year's Day and May 1 - Labor Day. From this year, the birthday of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, November 13, is also celebrated in our country.
