AUTHOR: M.J.
During the second day of the Munich Security Conference, the Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović spoke with the Minister of Defense of Albania, Nik Peleši, about improving the defense cooperation between the two countries.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of the defense cooperation between the two countries, and expressed the expectation of the soon signing of a technical arrangement, which would provide a foundation and basis for joint training of members of the Croatian Armed Forces and the Army of Albania.
The defense ministers of the two countries said that, in addition to bilateral activities, defense cooperation between Montenegro and Albania also takes place through active participation in regional initiatives, such as the American-Adriatic Charter A5, SEDM, RACVIAC, BMTF, DECI, ADRION, B9 and CEDC+.
Bearing in mind that Albania chairs the American-Adriatic Charter A5 this year, Minister Peleši expressed his belief that the chairmanship will contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between the countries of the region and the additional promotion of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
At the invitation of the Federal Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, Krapović attended the working lunch, as well as the official dinner on the occasion of the awarding of the "Ewald Von Kleist" awards, hosted by the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Markus Zeder.
During the second day of the Munich Security Conference, concern was expressed about the damaged transatlantic security and the danger of the imperialist ambitions of autocratic regimes was pointed out. The need to focus on the Indo-Pacific region was also pointed out, bearing in mind the impact of this region on global security.
At the panel dedicated to the future of the Western Balkans, opinions were exchanged on the challenges and opportunities facing member countries and aspirants for membership in NATO and the EU. The importance of strengthening good relations between the countries of the Western Balkans, which makes that part of Europe less vulnerable, was emphasized, with support for the continuation of reform processes in those countries.
