Stop rewriting history

The President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, today received a delegation of anti-fascists from the former Yugoslav republics, including Zuvdija Hodžić, the president, and Dragan Mitov Đurović, the general secretary of the Union of NOR Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Montenegro. In the conversation, the importance of respecting the historical truth and preventing its retelling, which would try to declare the defeated forces as the victors over fascism, was highlighted.
This is why the role of anti-fascists is important in preserving peace and unity, in nurturing the tradition of partisan struggle and post-war reconstruction, and in restoring broken ties in the areas of the former common state. This will be discussed in particular on Saturday at the festival in the town of Poljane, where the final battle of the Second World War took place in Europe.
The delegation of fighters and anti-fascists was also received by Zoran Janković, the mayor of Ljubljana, who emphasized the common life of numerous peoples and religions in Slovenia, with the wish that Podgorica and Montenegro, with which there is an extraordinary cooperation, be within the borders of the European Union as soon as possible.
The delegation laid a wreath of memory and respect at the monument to national heroes of Slovenia, including Milovan Šaranović from Danilovgrad, who died eight decades ago in Gornji Žužemberk as the Chief of Staff of the National Liberation Army and partisan detachments of Slovenia.
