Tatjana Begović appointed acting Supreme State Prosecutor

Tatjana Begović was appointed today at the session of the Prosecutor's Council as acting VDT.
This was decided by the votes of seven of the eight members present.
The session of the Prosecutor's Council first continued today at 2 pm, and Tatjana Begović's resignation as a member of the Prosecutor's Council was noted at the very start.
After that, the session was formally interrupted immediately after the resignation of Begović, and a new one started immediately after that.
The reason for this is Article 27 of the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office, which prevents a member of the TS from being elected to a position in the State Prosecutor's Office, as long as he is formally still a member of the Prosecutor's Council.
Precisely because of this reason, but also the fact that she did not receive enough votes, TS member Sanja Jovićević, who came forward as a candidate for acting VDT, was not elected on Monday. At that time, next to her, the candidate was the lawyer Milorad Marković, who also did not receive enough votes.
With this election, Begović will, from the position of acting VDT, to be a member of the Prosecutor's Council again, i.e. its president.
At the beginning of the new session, TS member Filip Jovović proposed that Tatjana Begović be acting VDT in the next six-month period. He explained the initiative by saying that Begović knows the prosecution organization well.
TS member Borivoje Đukanović said that he supports Jovović's position.
Begović has extensive experience, excellent work results. I will vote for her with full confidence - he pointed out.
Stevo Muk said that he will refrain from making a decision, because he believes that the election of member TS Begović would be against the spirit of the provisions of the law.
In this sense, the resignation immediately before the decision on the appointment of acting VDT does not fundamentally change the matter - said Muk.
Tatjana Begović and Sanja Jovićević did not attend the session.
