The basic court ruled that Raonic was illegally re-elected

AUTHOR: M.J.
The Council of Radio Television of Montenegro illegally elected Boris Raonic as the general director on June 1, 2023, the Basic Court in Podgorica ruled.

The judgment was made following the lawsuit filed by Srđan Čović, who sued the Public Service for the illegal re-election of Raonic. On that day, the Council of the RTCG first dismissed Raonic after the High Court's ruling that his election was illegal, only to re-appoint him as general director at the same session.

This first-instance verdict orders the Council to make a new legal decision on the election of the general director from among the registered candidates who meet the conditions for the general director according to the conditions of the competition from June 16, 2021, eight days after the verdict becomes final.

The court dismissed the claim requesting the re-appointment of the general director from the remaining candidates.

This is the fifth verdict of the Montenegrin courts, according to which Raonic was illegally elected as the general director.

Two weeks ago, the court made the same decision on the lawsuit of Nikola Marković, one of the candidates of the competition, who also sued RTCG for the re-election of the general director.

RTCG is also obliged to pay court costs to Čović.
