The Croatian Ministry on events in Tivat: Protests led by an SPC priest are an attempt at intimidation

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia strongly condemned the move of the head of the municipality of Tivat, Željko Komenović, who called for a boycott of lectures on the Homeland War, which led to a smaller protest led by an Orthodox priest.
In the Josip Marković House of Culture in Donja Lastva, which is the seat of the Croatian National Council of Montenegro (HNVCG), professional, educational lectures on the Homeland War were held for teachers of Croatian education abroad, history teachers and anyone interested. The co-organizer was the Central State Office for Croats Abroad, the Croatian Ministry announced.
Without any prior communication with the president of the HNVCG, the mayor of Tivat publicly called on the citizens to boycott the lecture, which he assessed as "a miserable attempt to gain political points for the Croatian Citizen Initiative (HGI)", and called the Homeland War civil and the manifestation itself a provocation of part of the citizens of Tivat. they say in Zrinjevac.
The Ministry points out that such calls for a boycott, as well as the protest of a small number of citizens led by a local priest of the Serbian Orthodox Church, are unacceptable because they represent an attempt to intimidate the indigenous Croatian people, especially before the parliamentary elections held on June 11, which are being independently contested by (HGI).
The Croatian government expects the Montenegrin government to protect its citizens from all manipulations and unfounded attacks, and to ensure a dignified and peaceful life for the Croatian minority community - the announcement stated.
