The election in Montenegro's inevitable, appoint the judges of the Constitutional Court

The Black Gora elections are inevitable, the US expert for the Balkans Edward Jozef told the Balkans, and said that it was important to appoint the judges of the Constitutional Court.

In an interview with the Voice of America, he said that last year it was terrible for Montenegro, which had and still has a better chance than all Western Balkan countries to join the European Union (EU) if he left the political crisis.

Joseph said that instead of in the middle of the goal, political parties went in the opposite direction.

He stated that the EU and the United States of America (US) must know not only leaders but also citizens, what will be the consequences for them themselves because of irresponsible political games and failure in decisions, such as the appointment of judges.

"The EU and now have to know who is responsible, who are the actors that endanger the stability and prosperity of Montenegro, and then allow voters to invite these leaders to responsibility," Jozef said.

He added that in the end, it was the only way to convince the leaders to renounce, solve the crisis and make the necessary compromise decisions.

"The hope is that this year the election will open a new chapter for Montenegro," said Jozef, a lecturer at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) University of Džons Hopkins.

Jozef said that the current situation is not sustainable and that he expects an election agreement, especially after, as he stated, the failed contradictory effort to form a new government.

"Montenegro must urgently regain the constitutional order. It is very important to appoint those judges (Constitutional Court)," Jozef said.

He said it was encouraging that the effort was not able to make Miodrag Lekic be the Prime Minister of the Government, which, as he stated, would not have legal basics, according to the Constitution.

"It should be a turning point - that failed effort that really came close to destroying the constitutional order. After that failed, the elections are inevitable, ”Joseph said.
